Exclusive interview with Miss Great Britain Zara Holland

Zara Holland can well be described as multi-talented. As well as a beauty Queen, Zara is an actress. She started her acting career at a young age working with Matt Lucas and David Walliams in their live UK tour of Little Britain Live. Zara trained at David Johnson Drama in Manchester for three years and has appeared in Emmerdale playing the role of Portia and Hollyoaks as Nurse Lucy, as well as starring in a number of TV Commercials and modeling for Jet2, Vicky Martin and Little Bird Boutique.

Zara also has a wide knowledge and love of fashion. When she’s not appearing on screen or attending events, she’s running her ladies fashion boutiques ‘Mimi‘ with her mother, Cheryl Hakeney (Miss Hull
1985, Miss Legs 1985).

Additionally Zara is a keen charity fundraiser. She has raised over £20,000 for Macmillan, Cancer  Research UK and Yorkshire Scanner Appeal.
At the Miss Great Britain final this year she also took the titles of ‘Best Beach Body’ and ‘Miss Charity’ raising over £3,000 for Cancer Research UK in just a few weeks. She was also crowned ‘Miss Sportswoman 2014’ after competing in the army boot camp. To top off all her titles she is also an experienced horse rider and mono skier!

Hairdressing: What has been your biggest achievement so far?
Zara: My biggest achievement has got to be winning Miss Great Britain 2015/16

Hairdressing: If you weren’t an actress what would you be?
Zara: Ooo thats a hard one! i would love to of been a primary school teacher.

Hairdressing: Who is your style icon?
Zara: My style icon is Michelle Keegan, i think she always gets it right if its a casual look or on the red carpet. I love her michelle love lipsy range too which I was lucky enough to go to the launch of!

Hairdressing: Who is your hairdressing idol?
Zara: Inanch London  – Inanch London is the choice of salon for many celebrities , fashion and beauty editors and the world’s most stylish entrepreneurs. Inanch is world renowned for expertise in hair extensions.

Hairdressing: Is there any hairdresser that would you most like to work with (past or present)?
Zara: I would love to work with Nikki Clarke, that would be a dream come true!

Hairdressing: Who cuts your hair?
Zara: Alistair Cook.

Zara: my favourite part of the job is meeting people, getting dressed up and partying with a good cocktail!

Hairdressing: Which one hair product couldn’t you live without?
Zara: I couldn’t live without Ellenette catwalk collection hairspray, I curl my hair a lot so I always need it to keep the curls in and add some volume!

Hairdressing: What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?
Zara: the best career advice i was given was to believe in yourself and you can achieve anything.

Hairdressing: Sleek and shiny or messy bed hair and why?
Zara: Depends whats been going on the night before! hahaha! 100% sleek and shiny always a classy look that works with any outfit.
