It’s been a busy start to June with The Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Project F.A.M.E. Team and Project X having their monthly Project Team Days – days filled with inspiration and learning to help master their skills and perfect their craft.
F.A.M.E Team
The F.A.M.E Team spent their day with Errol Douglas MBE ahead of their upcoming photoshoot in June at Errol’s salon in London.
Errol spent the day breaking down the fundamental elements of Afro/textured hairdressing and provided a demo to the team showing them a cut and finish, along with a twist out styling demo. The day was a very hands-on look and learn and followed by the team working on their own models in the afternoon, learning more techniques and gaining inspiration from observing the rest of the team’s models.
James Alfie said: “Wow,I don’t think words can describe how amazing it was to get to work with a living legend in the industry like Errol Douglas, MBE! We started the day with a conversation about our career goals and what being on the F.A.M.E. team can do for us in achieving them. Errol then did an amazing demo for us showing us how to approach cutting Afro hair and the methods behind it, from the products to the cutting method, it was a great eye opener and insight, and really helped build my confidence in approaching textured hair. For the afternoon we did a workshop on models which was great to get hands on and put to test the knowledge Errol had given us. This was followed by a meeting with our Project Leader Sally and Errol, for our upcoming collection shoot – watch this space as we are going to be creating something AMAZING!”
Project X
Project X spent their team day at Wella World Studio in London, whereby Danielle Harvey, Assistant UK Creative Director, and Pink Grubb, Colour Director from Sassoon Academy, provided the team with an amazing combination of cutting and colouring. In the morning Danielle and Pink worked on live mjodels to create looks, discussing positioning and precision and the use of disciplined techniques and how these can make a big difference to the finished look. The afternoon was all about putting the learnings into practice, working in pairs to create the looks showcased in the morning where the team could chose to either do cut or colour.
Sarah McCulloch commented: “By far the best team day yet! What a day. We started off with a demo, followed by a presentation then hands on. We worked in pairs (my team mate was Amy) we had such a great time and really had fun, playing with different cuts and colours outside our comfort zone, lots of peer learning and a “whole rounded team learning day.”
