Norman Bagnall Obituary

The family of Norman Bagnall are sad to announce his passing on 28 September 2021.
A life-long champion of the hair and hair colour industry, Norman started his career as an apprentice hairdresser in Wanstead, Essex where he worked for several years before joining L’Oréal of Paris as a sales representative. It was while at L’Oréal that Norman learned the art of hair colour, with many salons in the London and Essex area benefitting from his knowledge and expertise. For several years, Norman also compered the L’Oréal Colour Trophy, the country’s leading hairdressing competition.

Norman then moved on to Vidal Sassoon, where he managed the hairdressing school in Davies Mews, London and was also involved in the launch of the Sassoon Hair Products.

Norman went on to open Hot Hair at Hyper Hyper in Kensington, selling high fashion wigs, extensions, and hair pieces. Norman built the business up to become one of the market leaders, before eventually selling it, along with the the brand to Daxbourne International, where he worked until he retired.

Norman spent his retirement helping chemotherapy patients who needed advice on wigs to wear during their treatment. Norman’s understanding and concern to ensure his clients wore the right wigs helped many women to regain their confidence during a traumatic time.

His wife and two daughters were very proud of his commitment to the industry. He was respected for his patience and understanding and will be missed by many.

  1. I am sorry not to have known Norman better, he was a colleague in London working in management at the Vidal Sassoon school, I worked all over the place. Norman was a good colleague and in my experience kind. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. cb
