Paris Couture Fashion Week

The Knightsbridge salon team headed by Stephen Low and Elena Lavagni collaborated with designers Julien Fournie and Ralph & Russo on this season’s Paris Couture Fashion Week.

“My Neville team of salon/session stylists headed by Stephen Low has conquered the Paris Haute Couture Week like no other London salon before. The capital of fashion is the toughest scene in the world but once you are there your hair team belongs to that elusive and exclusive part of the Haute Couture history that only a few true artists have the privilege to create” says Elena Lavagni

“For this season, I wanted a strong beauty and I’ve been very lucky to work in collaboration with Neville; they’re an extraordinary team – I’ve never worked with a team who understand the full consciousness of the demands of Haute Couture. I decided, even before I met Stephen and Neville, to create volume with a big low bun in the neutral color of the models’ hair. I think that this contributes to showing that the Julien Fournié woman doesn’t impose on herself trends or buns, she interprets them in her own way and fully personalizes everything to the extremes. The size of this bun shows that she has made a decision, a creative option for her beauty. However, I had a problem: to translate this authority, I had also included quite high collars including in the back of the neck.

How could I combine these with a low bun? Stephen and his team have helped me to find the right height and volume for the bun. They also suggested something essential when they saw that I was concerned with giving women authority; they suggested a side parting of the hair which would accentuate this aspect. They were right and have fully added to the aesthetics of the show, adding some shiny texture on the sides of this parting also. Stephen Low helped to suggest ways of interpreting the look to work with the designs – I cannot now work with any other salon I was so happy with them.” says Julien Fournie

Ralph & Russo

With Cheryl Cole opting for a black gown from the label to marry in, Ralph & Russo have been very much in the spotlight. The Neville team were delighted to collaborate with the label again, supported by L’Oreal Professionnel.

“After working with Ralph & Russo on their first show we wanted to do something a little more modern for their second show – yet keeping their super polished finish on everything. With the collection there was a ‘40s feel through it with some of the shapes of the outfits so we went for something that was back away from the face with a slight wet look to it for the more modern with-a-loose-combed-back feel. One was a down look. So just straight down the back. And the other was an updo which we wanted a ‘40s feel to. So we added a roll to the back but instead of rolling under (which I feel is a classic 40s look) we rolled it up which gave it a more modern sculpted feel.” says Stephen Low.
