Neville Hair & Beauty stylist James Wilson was called upon by Maxine Peake, star of Oscar-tipped film Theory Of Everything, to style her hair for her latest red carpet appearances.
The first event James worked on was Maxine’s hair for the British Independent Film Awards. “Maxine wanted a quiff look to complement the tailored suit she was wearing. I started by prepping her damp hair with Tecni Art Volume Lift Spray Mousse to create volume and lift at the root with a vent brush. After the volume was created, I lightly smoothed over the ends with a Denman brush. Once the hair was dry I sprayed L’Oreal Professionnel Fresh Dust from root to tip and lightly teased the roots with a comb. To finish this look I used L’Oreal Professionnel Play Ball Density Material and L’Oreal Professionnel Fix Design to hold the look in place.”
The second event James worked on was the premiere was Maxine’s new film, Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything. “For the premiere, Maxine wanted to work with a messy style to complement her polo neck top and accentuate her funky undercut hair. I prepped her hair with L’Oreal Professionnel Beach Waves and a round brush to blow dry the hair smooth but with a matte texture. Once dry I used L’Oreal Professionnel Fresh Dust to give even more texture to the hair before applying L’Oreal Professionnel Play Ball Deviation Paste to really mess up her hair.”
